JASON PADGETT (Owner/Manager)
Jason has been in the Marine Business his entire life - literally. He began working in the marine business part time in high school and then more extensively through College summers. After graduating from Auburn University in 1996, Jason began his full time career at Modern Marine. He started at the very bottom, cleaning boats, etc...and has been in Sales & Management for almost 14 years. He has learned over the years that Customer Service is the backbone of any business and that you must keep your customers happy or you will not have customers very long. A good reputation goes a long way in the marine business, which is what has kept Modern Marine successful for so many years.
Jason recently married Jordan McLain in August 2009...so there is now an addition incentive for Jason to continue the success of Modern Marine:)
Johnny Padgett (Owner/Manager)
Johnny has owned Modern Marine since 1972. He knew nothing about the boating industry back then, but after over 35+ years in the business there aren't many people in the country that know more. He has survived many ups and downs through the years, but one thing has always stayed the same - Customers come first! One of his favorite sayings about the business is that "Here at Modern Marine, we don't just sell boats...We build relationships" Although he has been very fortunate to carry the top brands in the country...He learned early on that the longevity of your business isn't based on what you sell, it's primarily how you treat your customers. Johnny has always had a hands on management style, which conveys the values that Modern Marine is based upon to each and every employee in the company.
Brad Carter (Customer Service/Parts)
Brad has very extensive experience in the boating industry. He has over 16 years of experience! He started out working as a technician and has been in tune with the mechanical side of the business ever since. He has been at Modern Marine since 2003 serving the needs of our customers. He is very knowledgeable concerning Mercruiser engines/service issues, and his experience is unrivaled in the Middle Tennessee area. Brad is more than happy to help you with any of your boating needs, and more than capable of doing so.
Angie Douglas (Bookkeeping/Finance)
Angie has been with Modern Marine since 2002. Angie is the one that you probably initially speak with when you call Modern Marine. She pays our bills and makes sense of all of our paperwork. And when you buy your boat from us, Angie is the one that will go over your paperwork with you.
Johnny Smith (Head Technician)
Johnny is a staple here at Modern Marine. He has worked here for over 30 years! He started years ago as an entry level technician and over the years has learned everything there is to know about servicing marine engines. His specialty is Mercruiser sterndrives - If it can happen to an engine, he has seen it. He runs the shop downstairs and keeps all the mechanics in line. He is 100% Mercruiser Certified and has been for a long time. He continues to attend Mercruiser School every year to keep up with the newest technology in the ever changing engines. If you have an issue with your Mercruiser engine, bring it in and let Johnny and the other mechanics take care of it for you.
